As you know it is very important to have a good refractometer for monitoring
all fluids from machining, grinding, washing, vibratory finishing, and many
others. Most of us have dealt with the limitations of hand held optical viewers.
These devices are particularly disappointing when looking for R-values under
2.0, such as for washing and mass finishing fluids.

Now, there is a high tech answer to the problem without spending high tech
dollars. It is the new PAL-1, Model 3810, digital refractometer with scale from
Brix 0.0 to 53.0! I personally have tested this unit, comparing it with my three
optical refractometers. I found it much more reliable, easier to use, and easier
to clean. I am so impressed that we replaced our lab instruments with one of
these for our very important QC tests.
